In the small community of Gumo in Northern Ghana, the Zisung Nitee Nabli Women’s Group, a team of ten resilient women, has been producing shea butter for 5 years. Despite their hard work and determination, they struggled to make a sustainable living due to limited resources and lack of market access.
This changed in 2024 when Tradeline Consult, a local business advisory firm, partnered with the group to turn their dreams into reality. Through Tradeline Consult’s support and guidance, the women secured a GHS 17,500 loan from the Tamale Archdiocesan Union of Cooperative Societies for Development (TAUCSOD) Limited. This financial support was just what they needed to break through the barriers that had previously held them back.
With the funds, the group invested in better equipment, expanded their production capacity, and significantly improved the quality of their shea butter. As a result, their weekly production doubled, soaring from 252 kilos to over 500 kilos. The increase in production quickly translated into higher demand, and their business began to thrive.
But the impact of this transformation went far beyond financial success. With Tradeline’s guidance, the women also acquired critical business skills, including financial management and effective group collaboration. “Before the assistance from Tradeline, I can say we were working hard but really not in business. Now, we can produce more, reach more customers, and most importantly, support our husbands to take care of the home,” Group’s leader, Abubakari Asana said.
The Zisung Nitee Nabli Women’s Group’s success has become a beacon of hope and inspiration in Gumo. Their story is a testament to the power of microfinance, business consultancy, and sheer determination in changing lives and building brighter future.
